Come Celebrate El Dia de los Muertos
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) 2024 - Join Lara for an inspiring multi-media, multi-sensory exploration of this 3,000-year-old traditional Mexican holiday - directly connected to her own Mayan heritage. Through music, dance, drama, multimedia and visual arts!

About the event
Through music, dance, drama, multimedia and visual arts, participants embark on an experiential journey through the rich folkloric elements and vocabulary of this seasonal holiday - anchored by an illustrated children's book. Additionally, participants are invited to bring a small picture of loved ones who have passed from this world - pets welcome! Together we will fabricate and decorate small paper frames for the special photos of our beloved departed (Los Nichos). These are the anchors for creating one’s own Ofrenda (altar) at home. A loving homage to, and deep acknowledgment of, the departed. Participants will also receive reproductions of folkloric art that can be colored and decorated to reinforce key characters and vocabulary associated with this special holiday including - Sugar Skull, Calavera, La Catrina, Milagros, Marigolds and more!
