Celebrate Wellness Through Creative Expression!
Time & Location
About the Event
There’s a place inside each of us where we know we are special, unique, creative, important...our “Inner Star!” That was the focus of our creative workshop series, to shed light on our inner greatness with a focus on FUN! Exercises included... karaoke, vocal exercises, journaling, drumming, movement and more.
The workshops inspired peer-to-peer interaction and creative leadership. Members learned how to facilitate group drum circles, host karaoke/open mics, they wrote a song together, created art, shared their poetry, and so much more.
The expressive arts have many health benefits that support mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. Singing and drumming promote relaxation, a sense of group identity and a feeling of belonging, providing an opportunity for immediate engagement in a music experience.
On December 12th beginning at 2:00 pm CSPNJ’s Morris Community Wellness Center members will showcase what they have learned in the workshops by performing as a group, their original co-written song – "Love Each Other“ will be performed along with poetry, a guided drum circle, an art exhibit and more.
Morris Community Wellness Center is looking for visual artists and poets to participate in the event by showcasing their artwork and reading their poetry related to mental health or addiction. For consideration, please submit online at lifecenterstage.org/cspnj before 12/5/18.
